Consumerism's Affect on Us

Consumerism, spending a lot of money on items that aren't necessary or we already have but need more, like clothes. We are all accustomed to buy items that aren't helpful to us or is already provided and we continue to do it after purchasing an item. We have all these different ads in TV or the internet that persuades us to buy that item to fit in with people who have it. In article, "Is Consumerism Killing Our Creativity", by Jocelyn K. Glei she states that our brain fires on a great idea when we see an item in, "What if I tried this?" getting our instincts on in I need this.
From research,  "As Consumerism Spreads, Earth Suffers, Study Says" by Hiullary Mayell in her statistics it shows that approximately 1.7 billion people belong to the consumer class, meaning they are addicted to unhealthy food, big houses, and more or better cars.
We are letting our greediness as a distraction to the items that are useless or we already own but we feel we need more in our way. When we lack the money to buy an item we go with our credit cards for our consumptions and later it leads our future income at a very high rate, making us incapable to provide ourselves with food or shelter or giving us a harder time to live having to deal with these incomes.

From the chart above, the working, the middle, and the high class show a percentage of consumers in the word's private consumption, and as you can see the high class consume 76.6% while the others consume less than that.
Overall, consumerism is affecting our minds and leading us to poverty and harder lives with the distractions. We mustn't let this affect us because it could be you next if you continue to buy items that aren't necessary or we already have.

Predators Around Us

Hackers, people who use computers to get into unauthorized areas, is increasing every day in our lives. Hackers are becoming a major problem for us. In Cincinnati,OH, Emma, daughter of  Heather Schreck was hacked through a baby monitor around midnight by a man's voice. Heather Schreck heard a voice in her daughters room, she checked the monitor with her cellphone and the camera was moving, but Heather wasn't the one moving it, it was someone outside their house, a hacker. It is very scary, knowing there is someone unknown watching us from the outside. We relied on technology for our young one's protection but in this matter technology is endangering our young one's into the strangers hands. We wont have that protection for the young one's if we do not do something about these predators. One thing we do need to do is be more cautious in the young one's technology making sure it wont be hacked because it isn't safe anymore and we need to care for their protection.

With the articles above, technology is helping predators through social networks and cameras. Technology wont be reliable for kids until there is a solution to block predators from danger.

Government kick people out their homes and destroy homes

 Yvonne Phillips Story
The block is about a community in poverty where at some point the block was controlled by the government, and the government is kicking everyone out of their houses for a project, so Yvonne Phillips, a past resident in the block and has sadly passed away, discusses about how angry she was at the government for destroying their homes. She talks about how she tried to help the teens by forming a youth club to motivate teens since they were affected by all the drugs coming to the community with this project. She says and believes that "I pray, really I pray that it all, that we do get houses back here."
The articles below have to do with the same as the block story.
http://www.pbs.org/independentlens/chavezravine/cr.html and http://dailycaller.com/2014/06/10/brazil-is-using-the-world-cup-to-destroy-communities/
Both the articles and the story about the block are related because they both talk about how government has destroyed peoples homes and kicked them out in the curve. The government is becoming  too powerful to be able to take people's rights and not providing them any money and just to create projects to make money.

The Beginning

To start things off I have journalism, speech, and statistics classes. This program helps you take an opportunity like no other to take classes during the summer and especially a college credit class to help you in college which is an amazing support. This is me saying this experience will be educational 😊.
